The chapter has three parts.
- Multi-agent systems. Several agents do parts of one task. Each agent has a role: its own instructions, tools, and history.
- Collaboration. A handoff carries the task and the findings to the next agent. Coordination decides which agent works next and what it receives.
- Communication structures. Agents can pass work in four patterns: sequential, manager, hierarchical, and all-to-all.
The lab gives the science essay task of the Week 5 lab to three systems. First, one Agent object writes the essay, evaluates it, and improves it. Then a writer and an evaluator divide the work: each is one object with the Wikipedia search and its own list, and your code passes the essay and the evaluation between them. Then a coordinator agent uses the two roles as its tools. At the end, you compare the three systems with the judge of Week 5, a code check of the citations, and the tokens. The lab is not collected.
